FAQs
Who is corvus celticus?
Corvus Celticus is a Northern Ireland-based storyteller, filmmaker, and creator exploring the darker corners of local history, folklore, graveyards, old churches, forgotten places, and the strange stories hidden in familiar landscapes. With a degree in criminology, I’m drawn not only to the eerie and mysterious, but also to the human stories behind them - crime, punishment, belief, fear, injustice, memory, and the way communities carry their past.
How did you get started?
Corvus Celticus began with a camera, a hard drive full of almost forgotten footage, and a growing feeling that these places deserved more than being stored away unseen. I’ve always been a hobby photographer and videographer, drawn to old churches, graveyards, ruins, landscapes, and the quiet corners of Northern Ireland. Eventually, I got fed up watching my hidden collection grow and decided to start to tell the stories behind those images and videos.
My fascination with the strange and dark goes back to childhood - from early memories of George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead to late-night episodes of The X-Files. That love of eerie stories, mystery, folklore, and forgotten history never really left. Corvus Celticus is where all of that comes together: the filming, the research, the atmosphere, and the old stories waiting to be uncovered.
What makes you different?
I believe my work is personal, hands-on, and rooted in respect. I don’t just retell old stories from a distance - I go to the graveyards, ruins, forests, churches, fields, and forgotten corners where they happened. My work is shaped by a love of animals, nature, wild places, old gravestones and churches, quiet landscapes, and the places most people walk past without noticing. Through research, filming, writing, voiceover, drone footage, and editing, I uncover the secrets beneath our feet…one forgotten story at a time.
What stories do you cover?
I cover the darker, stranger, and often overlooked stories hidden across Northern Ireland and Ulster. That includes graveyards, old churches, forgotten places, local legends, true crime events, strange history, and the stories featured in my Ulster’s Grave Secrets series.
I’m drawn to the eerie and unusual, but I also try to handle sensitive subjects with care. I actively avoid anything too recent that could cause unintended upset to families, communities, or anyone still affected by the events.
can i suggest a story or place?
Absolutely! I’m always interested in hearing about old graveyards, ruined churches, local legends, forgotten places, strange stories, and dark little corners of history that people might not know about. If there’s somewhere you think I should visit, or a story you think deserves to be told, feel free to send it my way through TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or email.
I can’t promise I’ll be able to cover every suggestion, but I will always get back to you… I know that some of the best stories begin with someone saying, “Have you heard about…”
How can I contact you?
My inbox is always open. You can contact me through TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, where I’m happy to hear from anyone who feels the need to reach out to me for any reason. Or, if you’d prefer, you can reach me by email at CorvusCelticus@gmail.com
where are you based?
I’m based in the Mid Ulster area, but between filming, wandering, and travelling around Northern Ireland for the less dark and mysterious parts of life (Work), I tend to cover a fair bit of ground. So while Mid Ulster is home, nowhere in Northern Ireland is really out of bounds - especially if there’s an old graveyard, ruined church, strange legend, or forgotten story waiting at the other end.
do you work with any other creators or video makers?
Not so far. But I’m open to collaborations where it feels like a natural fit and good chemistry. That could include local historians, heritage groups, churches, museums, storytellers, photographers, filmmakers, creators, or anyone with a genuine interest in Northern Ireland’s strange, forgotten, or overlooked history.
I’m especially interested in projects involving graveyards, old churches, folklore, dark history, nature, ruins, and forgotten places. If you think we could create something interesting together, feel free to get in touch.
How can i support corvus celticus?
The best way to support me is simply to watch, follow, like, comment, share, and tell others about the stories. It genuinely helps and motivates me more than you might think.
You can also support the channel by sending in strange local stories, forgotten places, graveyards, ruins, legends, or hidden bits of history you think I should look into. If you’d like to support the work more directly, you can also do that through Buy Me a Coffee.
My videos will NEVER be locked behind a paywall — but your support helps with the fuel, coffee, gear, time, and miles that go into keeping the stories flowing!
